Well, the car has sustained some damage from our adventures. I have apologized several times to Lloyd, and he seems to be taking it remarkably well.
The first was getting soot all over the back seat. We left so quickly Saturday morning we just plopped everything in, and there was soot on the bottom of the cooler. Oops.
We had to go to Lincoln for an auction, so I rode in the back seat and did my best to clean it up. Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.
While I was riding in the back, I noticed a cut in the upholstery on the back of the passenger seat. It is most likely my fault – from the various pieces of wood I’ve used to prototype propping up the head space. I mentioned to Lloyd (who was driving) that there was a little scratch in the fabric. He said that was fine. After a while I said it was more like a cut. He said that was fine. After a while I said it was more like a cut, a scratch and then another cut. He said, “The more you talk about it the more worried I get.” I fessed up and said that it looked like there had been a swordfight back there.
While in Lincoln, I bought some ‘No-Fray’ stuff to paint on the edges so they hopefully won’t get any worse. As I painted the stuff on, I worried that I was, indeed, making it worse.
I checked on it later and – whew – it dried invisibly. I think it’s just clear nail polish.
Boy, It’s a good thing we bought a used car that already had some scuffs and dings! (Good cover, eh?)
I’ve never heard of that “no fray” stuff. If you put it on undamaged cloth, does it turn it into impenetrable armor?
WOW! You are excellent at soot removing! Boy, I should could have used you when I left a bottle of King syrup in my backseat & it leaked all over the seats.
