When Samith came over on Sunday, he said, “I haven’t been upstairs in a while. Are you doing anything different?”
Um, yes.
I showed Samith, so I might as well show you. It turns out that when you’re a grown-up, you can have a ridiculous idea and make it happen in real life.
See, I love Lloyd and everything, but as I age, it turns out that I like a LOT of room when I sleep. If it’s cold I can hold very still all night, but when it’s not cold, around 4 a.m. I start to boil in my skin and have to thrash around and do a variety of cooling-down maneuvers. Add 1 – 3 cats to the equation and it’s bothersome. Add a husband and somebody is sleeping in a different room.
When school started, I moved into Brad’s room so we could both get some rest. After several weeks I offhandedly joked that we should just move our beds side-by-side. We could each have all the space we needed while still being ‘together’.
Well, this is the prototype of that idea. I moved one of the twin beds from the downstairs guest room upstairs.
I get the big bed and Lloyd gets the twin. (He’ll get a big-boy bed when he can make it through the night without crying.) That’s right – this bed is nearly two feet wider than a king-sized bed! We’ve slept this way for several weeks, and so far it is AWESOME.
However, company is coming next week and I need to move that bed back downstairs. Maybe it’s time for Lloyd to get that big bed after all!
By the way, I have just about had it with WordPress. The photo situation is making me crazy – I can’t load photos from the iPad anymore and I can’t load a banner picture anymore – it just shows the last photo from the post. I need to get my tech guy on that…..
Brad says
Ha! Great solution! And, I think, not so ridiculous. (I always want to spell the word with an e -- rediculous. That’s how it’s pronounced.)
Peggy says
Ehhxcellent!! And I’m with you. I recently got a king sized bed & have been loving it. Maybe eventually I’ll add a twin size to it.
Lauren says
Peggy! 😀
Lloyd says
I learned that there are even larger beds in the UK and Ireland, but none bigger than the monstrosity that Lauren has wrought.
Kristi says
You’re like Lucy and Desi… except you’re Lauren and Lloyd.
