I came home to a dot on the floor that I worried was a bug or a poop. Nope. It was another dot from the clock. If Emme has her way, she will be the Queen of Time! Slowly taking away each hour until none are left, and the day will be one giant Naptime.

Did you know….?
Did you know that a small head of cabbage has 50 leaves on it?
Well, now you do.
Do with the knowledge what you will.
Paperwork and Costumes
I have Parent-Teacher conferences this week, so one of the projects this weekend was to finish getting my notes on each child onto the paperwork I share with parents. Those are mostly done – Yay!
The other job was to make some shepherd costumes for the Lighted Christmas Parade that is happening in two weeks. You might remember that last year at this time we built that float? Well, this year the only modification to it will be some larger wheels so it’s not as difficult to push. We are a little behind in getting families to sign up for walking with us, dang it. It will all work out. *breathe*
Anyway, I asked for donations of fabric so I could make shepherd robes, and a very nice lady donated some big bolts of cloth. I feel bad because I was thinking ‘old bed sheets’ and this is ‘nice upholstery’. It does not change my method of construction, though.
Nope, these are very basic shepherd outfits. There are a few of the standard “T”-shape construction,
a couple of long vests,
and a couple that are just long rectangles with a hole for the head that will be a kind of belted, sandwich-board style.
No fancy ‘finished’ edges – just chopping with pinking shears. Hey, do you think shepherds had finished edges? I think not.
Holed up.
I knew that snow was forecast for Saturday, so Friday after work I stopped by for food supplies so we could ‘hole up’.
It has been glorious. Lloyd cleaned the downstairs so that I could mess it up. I stayed in pajamas all day but slowly and steadily made progress on a couple of projects (details about that tomorrow). Work was done, clothes were washed, food was made, books were read and everyone napped at some point. (Some of us more geometrically than others. That’s Emme and Ralph.)
Here’s to a snowy Saturday.
For Brad, because he’s sick.
I am out of material for today, so I’ll just post this video that I’ve watched over and over. It won’t make sense to many of you, so honestly – don’t bother. It’s a parody of Doctor Who, and if you don’t watch the show it won’t make sense.
Brad, this is for you:
(Samith, too, but what are the chances he’s reading this?)
Also, a side-by-side shot comparison:
Wholey unsafe.
God bless Lloyd. I came home late tonight (getting ready for a special breakfast at work tomorrow) and he stopped at the store and had sandwich stuff all ready to go. Yay, food! Yay, Lloyd!
He also had eaten a fair amount of Cuties. He said that the grocery store had a sign that said, “Limit: One bag”. There must be some Cutie shortage that I am unaware of.
Anyway, as I was clearing the dishes I remembered that at the teacher conference a couple of weeks ago, I showed another teacher how you can spray the orange oil out of the peel. If you use an actual orange rind, the spray is pretty magnificent – like a teeny tiny, split-second fountain. What I didn’t tell her is that the Hofman kids used to spray that stuff over a candle to make a teeny-tiny, split-second flame thrower.
These cuties were pretty dry, but it was still fun. Ahhhh….. good times.
