I already told you that my class is studying space, and this is just such a fine time to be alive, because there is so much technology out there to help us learn.
Today I fired up my ‘Look at the Sky and Identify Stuff’ app – I forget what it’s called – so I can have it ready to use tomorrow. As I was pointing it toward the sun at the end of the day, this was the photo.
What?? Usually it identifies objects, but in this case I was sure it was a gag someone slipped in. “Hey, everybody – the sun’s going down. Let’s party!!”
But no, it is not a disco ball. It’s the AJISAI (EGS) – an ‘experimental geodesic satelite‘
Who are we kidding? It’s a party in the sky.

I see that they got some kind of award for that satellite. I can’t read it because it’s in Japanese. I bet it was the award for grooviest design.
nnn…tsss nnn…tsss nnn…tsss nnn…tsss

I’m dancin’ to that groovy beat.

Cool….and I didn’t see that coming….I never would have dreamed such a thing was floating out in space!

When you have a minute, could you tell me the name of the app? The 7 year old boy is obsessed with space at the moment. Pretty sure he’d still be watching yesterday’s astronaut videos today if I hadn’t made him go to bed last night.
Lauren says
Sure thing – it’s called Night Sky, but it seems to be a little buggy. It kept freezing up on me and if you have a ‘third party iPad cover’, it interferes with the…. blah blah blah.
I also have Star Tracker HD. I think they were both free.
Happy stargazing!
