My stupid body. It is just letting me down. I expected the slow decay, but thought it would happen later than this. Whatever. The new trouble is my right wrist. About a month ago I strained it, and it has hurt off and on since then. Along with that, there has been a small lump on it on the ‘volar‘ (palm) side. It gets better with ice and ibuprofen, but there is still discomfort.
Our clinic has walk-in appointments on Saturdays. I seriously thought about just sleeping in instead, but I went in and saw a PA. She said it is probably tendinitis, and the lump is probably a cyst. She told me to wear a brace for 2-3 weeks and if it doesn’t get better, come back for a visit with the hand/wrist doctor. I said I was pretty sure we had a couple of braces at home. She said if I didn’t, call back she would leave one for me at the front desk.
I went home, and sure enough, we have two. Two left-hand braces. No right-hand braces. I went back to the clinic for my brace. My brace that will probably cost $200.
Woo-hoo.

I watched that whole video looking for something that was called the volar. Why is it called the volar side of the wrist if there is no volar there? I did think it was interesting that all those little bones in the hand have a name and not just numbers or something.

I think that’s where Voltron was born? Made? Hmmm… I seem to be out of jokes today…

I used to be able to name all those bones…now I only remember the pisiform. Probably because it’s a funny name and I’m a middle schooler at heart. But also because it sits right next to that knobby part of your ulnar bone that sticks out at everyone’s wrist. And gets banged on things regularly.
I think I need to go back to teaching middle school science. I miss it.

Ha….LOVE the title!
Sorry your body is breaking down. Once it starts, it’s a downhill ride. 😉
