Well, the lighted parade is over for another year. Of course at this time I am looking back on it with relief, so it all doesn’t seem so bad. Here are notes that I will completely forget to look over next year.
The letters had to be ripped off when we were getting the float from the shed, so when it was time to put them back on I taped them together so each one wouldn’t need to be stapled back on. That was a good idea, but it took half an hour. (There were old staples that had to be removed.)
I had to do a Wal*Mart run which took up a little time. I also spent time making an emergency wheel to tack on in case we had a flat, but that was useless because it wasn’t actually with the float. I need to freak out less.
We got the float out of the school at 1:00 and then it was time to assemble it, attach all the stuff that needed attaching and then sit around and freak out for a bit. (Lloyd went back home for that.) We had the float at our ‘waiting’ spot plenty early, but that’s just the way it goes when you’re a freaker-outer.
The new tires worked fine, but I tried something different for the handles that did not work as well. I thought they would be immobile but they were plenty mobile. Rats. Rats. Rats. I need to fix those handles for next year.
More children showed up than I thought would. It was sooooo cold, I thought for certain everyone would stay home, but they were troopers. So, in a nutshell, all’s well that ends well.

I’m glad to read that your participation in the parade went so well in the face of adversity!
Lauren says
Thanks! It worked out just fine.
Brad -- the parade starts at 5:30. The floats have to be in position by 4:30. It gets dark right at 5. Thanks, Early Dark.

When does this happen? It looks really dark outside.
