The skin on my hands has always been a wreck. I wash my hands at least a dozen times at work, and even though I’ve used lotions and lotion bars, they are always in various states of grossness.
The fun new grossness is that I have developed a split on my thumb. I’m working on helping it heal, but it’s not going well. Anyway, the fun part is that one of the school-age kids was playing with the music box in my room and we were talking about how it worked. I said we had a kalimba – a thumb piano – in the basement and ran to get it. I test-played it on the way back to the room and the middle note was weird. I worked on pushing that piece of wire back into place and ….. my hand slipped. The flattened end of the wire? Only one place it could possibly land: on/in the end my thumb.
Dang it!!! Impaled!!

Ow. And yuck.
I can’t seem to leave my cuticles alone. They’ve been all messed up lately. I will definitely keep them away from kalimbas.

That “piano” is an accident waiting to happen.
