When Lloyd and I were grocery shopping after he had services at the nursing home*, I was very thirsty. I grabbed some lemons with the thought to make homemade lemonade.
Once home, I made some sugar syrup by putting some water and sugar in a pyrex thing, then nuking it until it boiled. I had no idea if that was the right ratio of sugar to water, so I just kept pouring sugar in and stirring, watching it dissolve. I should have videoed that – that was the interesting part. Anyway, at this point I thought I should take pictures so I’d have something to post, and that’s when I noticed how filthy the countertop was. All kinds of dried coffee and tomato-based-sauce spots. Bleh.
I cleaned it.
Here is the ‘making of’ photo.
And that’s that. It was lemony and refreshing and just what I wanted. It was also a lot of work scrubbing that stupid counter.
* That’s a story for another day.

I thought you were going to say that you used lemon juice to clean the counter top, and it made me think of a thing I’d read on reddit: someone asked why lemon juice and baking soda made teeth white. Someone answered that the baking soda is like sandpaper and sands off the top layer of enamel and that the lemon juice is acid and also strips enamel away. Yikes! I’ll stick with my toothpaste and soft bristle brush.

What are you, the Queen of France?
Lauren says
😀 ha!
Brad, I saw that, too. No more baking soda for brushing teeth for me. Yikes.
