The past couple of mornings, right before I leave for school, I’ve heard a weird, low rumble every minute or so. Yesterday I even looked around for the source – it sounded like a computer having trouble, but it wasn’t Lloyd’s or mine. It sounded like it might have been from the basement, but nothing.
This morning I heard it again, but decided to flush it out. I’d wait until I heard it and then move closer to the sound. It was coming from….. the chimney by my computer.
There are birds up there. I don’t know what they’re doing, but it’s probably not going to end well.

Maybe you could post a warning sign for them on your chimney. You should at least post a legal disclaimer that you are not responsible for any injury or death resulting from their continued use of your chimney. That way you won’t be sued by the birds’ families in case there is another incident.

That is hilarious!

You would also like to avoid this if at all possible…

Two days ago, as I was climbing into my truck to go to work, I heard a similar low rumble. Walking toward it, I found that the sound was coming from the gutter over the garage door. Back and forth it moved.
For the sake of context, when we put new shingles on we also installed gutter shields to keep leaves and gumballs and other debris out of the gutters, and to keep the downspouts from getting clogged. Works like a charm.
The shield panels also form a roof over the gutter itself, not only keeping unwanted stuff OUT but keeping some things IN.
Like squirrels.
You can catch a quick glimpse of what’s in there when the squirrel sticks his nose up into a small opening thinking he/she can wiggle out.
Good luck squirrel. Hope you find the downspout.

Yikes! I hope he does, too. 🙂
