It was another workday with volunteers. We had a great turnout. There were about twice as many people as there are in the photo. I am so grateful!
Lloyd is in Missouri for a meeting and he wanted to see photos, so I’m just going to show them:
In bad news, some chainsaws were stolen from the site sometime during the past few days. I left a note in case the the thieves come back, asking them to return them.
Brad says
The playground looks cool. Will the dirt areas be mulch?
Lauren says
Yes, and the toddler area will have grass. We need some ‘stepable’ plants (weeds) to grow on top of the hill. I am open to suggestions.
Lauren's mom says
Vinca. It’s a vine.
Brad says
That’s a great suggestion! Beautiful leaves and nice flowers.
For constant flowers during the warm months, and for fast spreading, I’ll suggest hardy ice plant (Delosperma cooperi). It will look a little dormant in winter though.
If you just want constant green, carpet juniper would be a good option.
Lauren's mom says
Some people (including me) are allergic to junipers.
Brad says
That’s really interesting. I didn’t know that. I don’t grow any. They’re not my favorite shrub, but they seem to be very tough. They seem to be used in commercial landscapes a lot.
So are you allergic to gin?
Gretchen says
Is that a fence I see? How is the kitchen?
And I hate that the chainsaws were stolen. What a kind note you left though. I hope they are returned!
Lauren's mom says
Brad, I have never tried gin.
