We had a very nice Easter, complete with a trip to the fort, but Lloyd has those photos on his phone and he’s already in bed. So let’s just look at lazy Ralph.

Happy Easter!
Dance your shoes off! (My preschoolers love this song.)

Zoinks!!
Deborah came over after church and we had a drink and some fine conversation. As we were talking, my eye fell on the shoebox where I throw all the bill/tax-related stuff. My brain started thinking, “Hmmm… I should really find that property tax bill. It might be in there. In there with the tax stuff. I wonder when taxes are due. Sometime in April. In April. Isn’t this April? It is April. Is today the 14th?? IS TOMORROW THE 15TH?? ARE TAXES DUE TOMORROW???”
I freaked out a little. I said so out loud. Lloyd said not to worry – it had been on his radar and he could file an extension. Our little soiree’ turned into a ‘Lauren sorts through the shoebox of papers’ party. Super, super fun.
Dang it! Why didn’t somebody tell me it was April??
12+
We don’t have school today, so yesterday was my Friday. Lloyd was going to a movie with Sam and Anna, and I settled in on the couch to watch tv. I didn’t make it five minutes into the show. My phone rang about an hour later, and I got up to see who had called. I re-wound the show and fell asleep at the exact same spot. I slept over twelve hours. Ahhhhh…..
I don’t think the phrase should be ‘happy’ Good Friday, but you know what I mean. It’s a slow, cool rain right now, just right for remembering that sad, awful day so long ago.
It worked!
Belly up to the tire
When we were designing the building, Lloyd went on and on about how we were really going to want a drinking fountain outside. I told him to pipe down and quit spending money we didn’t have. Turns out (whisper) he might have been right.
(Regular tone) Last year I bought a portable drinking fountain that hooked up to a garden hose and we used it for about a week before the weather turned cold enough that we didn’t need it anymore. (See? When it gets cold enough to freeze, someone has to take care of a real drinking fountain. Am I right?) Now that it’s warming up, I thought it might need some Lauren-ing.
The place where we had it before turned pretty muddy, so it’s going to be relocated where there will be better drainage. It just sprayed on the ground before, so I bought a used sink. We might also have a different platform, but for now, two stacked tires will do just fine.
When I tested it on Sunday, too much water sprayed out of the connections, and it was way too high. A trip to the local Orscheln’s Farm & Implement store yielded the correct implements. I tinkered a little tonight:
Tomorrow we’ll have to test it. I’ll let you know how big of a disaster it turns out to be.
Peace out.
