When Rachel, Anna and I went to the zoo earlier this month, we spent some time in the gift shops. The one in the safari area had some lovely wrap-around skirts that I thought were interesting, but they were 25/30-ish dollars, and I wasn’t willing to fork over that much money for something I didn’t know if I’d wear.
Well, I had to order some socks (I have been wearing the same pair every day, all summer. I just wash them at night and set them by the fan. That’s a whole other post.) and went the Amazon route, and out of curiosity looked up ‘wrap skirt’ and there they were! In fact, I could get three for $21! Sold!
The most interesting part? I couldn’t choose. If you want to choose, you have to buy five skirts, and I was actually excited about the prospect of not knowing what I’d get. Very Forest Gump. The reviews were mixed: some people loved theirs, some hated them, but mostly they were saying, “I liked two very much and one not so much”. I could live with that.
The package arrived today:
So exciting! I savored the moment for a while. I was either going to be very happy or hilariously disappointed. As it turns out, I am quite happy. Each skirt is two layers, so they’re reversible. I threw each one over what I was wearing today – I’m wearing pants under these! – and with the exception of one layer, I dig ’em all.
Bohemian year, here I come. Cost per wearing if I only wear them each once? $3.50.
Oh, and Happy Anniversary, Lloyd. Bring home chicken.

Nice skirts! Happy Anniversary!
Beth says
You don’t eat chicken on your anniversary. You eat Chinese. Unless that was just for the first 25 years…
Lloyd says
Yeah, this is clearly some sort of test.
Lauren's dad says
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, LLOYD AND LAUREN!
Kristi says
What a great find! Those skirts are awesome!
Lloyd, you better bring home something good for your beautifully skirted bride.
P.S. Lauren, You make a great model. You’re so trim and pretty.
Rachel S. says
Obviously you should play craps more often. 🙂
Brad says
Happy Anniversary! Did you make sure those skirts had pockets? Ha! I know the future because I’m reading your posts backwards!
