Happy Birthday, Elaine Royuk! You are the happy middle to our birthday Oreo!
In the new CDC, we have found ourselves needing a different freezer situation. There is a nice upright freezer in the actual kitchen, but it’s a pretty kind that matches the pretty refrigerator. They are the kind that are as deep as a countertop, so they are too shallow to be useful. (I mean that in the emotional sense, too.) Back in the pantry we’ve had the small chest freezer that we used at the old CDC, but those are difficult to organize effectively.
On the CDC wish list, we asked for an upright freezer – new or used. A very nice young lady offered the one that came with her house. On Friday, Lloyd, Sam and Gracen took the trailer to fetch it. We remembered everything…. except the tie-down straps. The nice lady had a bit of rope, though, so we pushed the freezer back by the ramp, tied it at the top, then propped a Lloyd at the bottom to keep it from tipping. It worked out just fine.
The thing is a tank. It has all kinds of weird metal cages inside to organize frozen goods. I imagine it will outlast our building. Our cook is going to have to make all the meals over the Christmas/New Year’s holidays, so a giant grocery order is coming this week. We’ll need the old and new freezers for this, so I bought some milk crates for some organization. We’ll see how these look when they’re full.
We put some water in the old one to make sure it works. It does.
(Time passes….)
Dang it! I forgot to take pictures today after the order arrived. All freezers are FULL. I repeat: all freezers are FULL. Good thing we got that done!
Brad says
That looks like a freezer that Indiana Jones could survive a nuclear blast in.
Kristi says
It must be an old freezer because the shelves are made of METAL! That baby is made to last.
Mom says
All systems are go, glad you got it. Lloyd looks cold hope it wasn’t far.

“Propped a Lloyd” is my new fav saying.
