I tried to do some housework when I got home last night, and that kind of put me off my game. I watched t.v. later than usual and then was too tired to think of anything to write.
At school, I have a notebook that is my ‘brain’. I used to keep my to-do list in my back pocket, but having an notebook is better because I can look back at the previous days and see what didn’t get done. Then I can decide if I’m going to add it to today’s list or just acknowledge that it’s never going to happen. (I like option 2 a lot.)
Yesterday morning, I even added a whole bunch of things to do when I got home. Early Morning Lauren is full of energy and optimism. Evening Lauren laughs and is content if two of those things gets done. Maybe that’s what I’ll shoot for: two things.

I found the cabin that we tried to find last weekend. Lloyd got the address from a guy who delivers mail there and I contacted a realtor through Zillow. She was very kind and answered my questions and asked if I wanted to look at it on Sunday. I said I wasn’t sure.
On Saturday, Lloyd finished up early at his auction so we decided to just drive by. As it turns out, the people who own it were there doing yard work. (It is not their main home.) They were very kind and showed us around the place.
Now, I have already tried to piece together the layout based on the photos on Zillow, and I was expecting just to wander around an empty cabin and peek in the windows, so I was unprepared to actually be inside and enjoy it. It was a whirlwind for me and I don’t remember enough about the interior, except that I had some of it right.
I like the house. As far as vacation cabins go, it is what you would expect: nothing fancy but cozy and fine. They are even selling it with all the stuff inside. The couple selling it have owned it for 31 years and made some wonderful memories there.
It is a ways back from the river, which was larger than I was expecting. When heavy rains come, it does flood, but never up to the house. There are trees and scrub all around and it would require a little maintenance, which is a downside.
You buy the house and garage, but the land is leased year-to-year, and that is the big drawback. That contract has worked out for 60 years, but there is no guarantee that it would continue.
Plus, I am lazy. I don’t take care of this house, so adding another would be foolish. It’s fun to daydream about, though.

Lloyd is at some sporting event in Lincoln tonight. He’s been giving me rides to work because it’s too cold for the toaster and my truck has had some battery issues. (He has jump-started it with the new battery he bought, but we haven’t replaced it yet.)
I walked home from work – which wasn’t too bad – and tried to start the truck. (I wanted to go to Wal*Mart later.) It started! I let it run for half an hour while I made dinner, then went to the store.
I did my little bit of shopping. I didn’t need very much stuff, and it was good to get out of the house. I hauled my wares to the truck, and noticed that the guy parked beside me couldn’t start his car.
Guess who had jumper cables super-handy? Me! Guess who remembered the order for the cables thanks to that handy-dandy song? Me! Guess who didn’t start either vehicle on fire? Me!
Let’s listen to that song again, shall we?

I forgot to write anything last night. It was a full day. We had a lady coming to do an Early Childhood Environmental Rastings Scale (ECERS) observation in the morning and it was a crap shoot as to which room would be evaluated. Guess who won? I didn’t do anything special since this is the baseline observation and the ‘how you’ve improved’ one is in January. That just gives us only room to go up!
Honestly, it was a pretty productive day and then it was home to eat and sit on the couch (under a blanket) until bedtime. I think that is going to be the routine for the next several months.
Happy Thursday, y’all!

Lloyd was very, VERY excited that a food truck was going to be in town. Apparently they serve the best fish in the Great Plains, but since I’m ot a huge fish fan, I’m just going to say that it was pretty good.
I was so tired when we went. It was almost 6:30 and so dark.
It’s 8:30 and Lloyd is conked out already. It’s so dark……..
