Someday I’ll need to do a proper recap of Brad’s visit. He’s a much better writer than I am and his posts cover much of what I would say, so I just write about drivel instead of what really happened. Somebody remind me to do that later.
Anyway, this post is about stupid Emme and how I thought a drunk person stole her in the night. Mind you, I am not a sane person.
I woke up Thursday night with some muscle aches and got up to get some ibuprofen. After a while I finally got back to sleep, but awoke to some faint thumping sound in the house. I ignored it. It happened again, and I figured it was the sound of cats fighting. I decided that if it was a person in the house, I would wait until I heard footsteps on the stairs – then I would call 911. I went back to sleep.
When I got up and showered, it was odd that Emme was not in the bathroom. I use olive oil as a lotion and she always is there to lap up a little off the counter – hence her shiny fur. I opened the bathroom door, expecting her to rush in, and only fat Ralph did. Hmmmm….. odd.
I walked around upstairs and looked, then went downstairs, expecting to see evidence of the night’s ruckus and maybe a chagrinned or hurt Emme, but no. Nothing was out of place and no cat. I looked all over the main floor and then all over the basement, with panic increasing in my heart.
I went back upstairs and told Lloyd, “I can’t find Emme.” He said that he heard the thumping in the night, too, but that the chances of somebody coming in and taking or letting out the most socially fearful of the cats was pretty low. Hmmmph. What does he know?
We spent a loooong time looking all over the house – in cabinets, under beds, in closets, along the tops of the unfinished walls in the basement, all the storage areas (I even went outside and called several times), and finally, after an hour, Lloyd found her in a drawer upstairs. The thumping we heard was that dummy opening a drawer and getting stuck inside. Why didn’t she meow when I looked for her? Stupid cat.
I am very thankful to God and Lloyd. They make a good team.

One of our cats did that one time.. I think it was Ginger.
She was in the drawer for over a day.

Poor Emme… I’m so glad you found her. Maybe she’ll think twice before climbing in that drawer again.

That’s a pretty good game of Hide-and-Seek.
