I was not super-productive this weekend. I did some laundry, watched some t.v., baked a little, and even spent some time outside. Annette needs some peonies for her yard, so she came over and I actually helped dig up some of ours. (Brad planted them years ago and there are tons of them.) Did you hear that? I dug in a garden. With a shovel. For real.
Then?? I planted things! St. John school had their annual plant sale fundraiser and I bought my traditional impatiens, but I also bought some tomatoes, peppers and basil for the preschool. For some curriculum thing, we’re supposed to to try to grow things they can eat. (Not like a whole meal, but they need to be able to physically eat one thing that came off the plant. Or at least that’s how I understand it – we’re just checking off a box.) Anyway, since we’re having a pandemic, I don’t see this being such a big deal for a while. I just stuck them in the ground on the side of the house and I’m hoping for the best. No photos though. Maybe tomorrow……

Here’s an interesting garden fact for you:
Plants have lifespans. If they don’t die from disease or drought or whatever, they will eventually die of old age. Peonies are some of the longest lived garden plants. Their expected lifespan is 100 years!
