Mountainous memory. Lloyd and I stopped at some thrift stores on Saturday. At one, I stopped in my tracks looking at a gigantic mountain landscape painting. I was absolutely sure it was the one that hung over the couch in my childhood home. Those mountains! How could it possibly be different?
It was driving me mad! What were the chances? Had that painting, which my parents no longer owned, followed me to Nebraska!
Thankfully, I have a Flickr account that has uploads of childhood photos, and I was able to fact-check it.
I was wrong. Different painting.

So close!
Brad says
Different painting but same mountain?
Lauren's dad says
Same painter?
Lauren says
In lieu of making today’s post, I’ll answer your comment. The thrift store painting was a print of a painting (Mountain Mist, I think) by Violet Parkhurst, a famous artist. Her genuine work can go for gobs of money. I tried ‘zoom in’ and ‘enhance’ with the photos of our painting that I could find in my Flickr account, but nothing came up. Do you know the artist?
Lauren's dad says
No, I don’t know the name of the artist. If the print is still here, I haven’t any idea where it is or where to look for it.
Ryan says

Mom says
