I have two pans that live on the stove full-time. The back pot boils water for my morning coffee (instant, because it’s easy and there’s no cleanup) and the skillet heats my bacon (always) and cooks an egg or pancake. I never wash the skillet – just wipe with a bit of paper towel, and the pot always has water inside.
It’s a good setup. I like it. It brings me a small amount of peace in the morning.

I like both of those. They’re functional and look nice.

I just watched a Good Eats episode that included info about cast iron pans. He, too, never washes. He suggested a salt scrub while the pan was still hot. That was after cooking a steak though, so there was more on the pan.
