So, I am afraid to say this out loud – lest it break the spell – but I have secretly been Kind Of Tidy for several weeks now. You wouldn’t know it from the cleaning storm that we did before company came, but that was different. When company comes, just Tidy won’t do – it has to be clean. “They-can’t-see-that-I never-wipe-this-corner-of-the-bathroom”-kind of clean.
I broke out the Resolutions Page that I started in January and abandoned pre-COVID, and it’s been interesting. I added specific cleaning tasks to each day, and I’ve stuck with it. (I’m working on having systems in place.) Y’all – I empty my dishwasher right away. I have SWEPT each Wednesday for three weeks, including the basement steps! This is not a spotless palace, but I’m so proud of me! I keep yelling at Lloyd, “Are you proud of me? I’m SO proud of me! There’s no telling how long this will last, buddy, so enjoy it!” (Clean Lauren is kind of ephemeral – she could disappear at any moment.)
We had planned to go to Omaha on Saturday so I could shop for a shed. (My current shed is a disaster and I would like to just write a big ol’ check to someone to make it all better.) While in Omaha, I told Lloyd I’d like to go to the Container Store to buy different laundry baskets. We have had the same baskets for twenty years, and while they are still serviceable (some are fixed with duct tape), they take up a lot of room in the bathroom. (The baskets live on the floor for instant sorting.) Lloyd was totally on board because he knows it’s wise to encourage Clean Lauren when she’s on a roll.
The Container Store had a great option: narrow, with picnic-basket-style handles, and they hold the same amount as the old ones. I actually didn’t believe it, and felt like I was in the experiment where they show little kids a tall, skinny glass of milk and a short, squat one (with the same amount) and ask which on has more. Anyway, I love them. Three baskets will take up the same floor space as two of the round ones. I say ‘will’ because one is on back order.
See?? So handy! Such a perfect size! Imagine how over-the-moon I’ll be when the third one arrives!
So….. do you need any laundry baskets? They’re round, but still good.

Ha! It’s funny how easy it is to keep using the same thing for so long. If I hadn’t moved, my laundry basket would be as old as yours.

Wow! I am impressed with so much of this. I’m so used to you having those little laundry baskets. It will be a big change for me. 🙂
Did you find a shed?

I like the new laundry baskets! The OCD in me is disturbed that you weren’t able to get the third basket right away, but it’s on the way. Whew.
I’d be joyful about the new baskets, too!
