I’m assuming I spelled ‘Momentous’ right. Spellcheck isn’t giving me any guff.
On Saturday, Lloyd, Deborah and I drove up to Foster, Nebraska for Kristi’s 50th birthday celebration! Yay! The party itself was delightful, the drive up was a little iffy because I was in the driver’s seat. I may have missed some ‘slow down’ signs along the way. Who’s kidding who? I missed them. Sorry, Deborah. Sorry, little town of Hader.
The celebration was wonderful! Kristi made brötchen, German bread rolls that are eaten with all kinds of yummy toppings – butter, jelly, meat, cheeses, Nutella, etc. She did a wonderful job. Our college choir director used to make them on Saturdays and invite choir members over to eat and visit. Kristi, you did Dad Martens proud. 🙂
Jerome is a pastor, and all the congregation members were invited. It was a lovely crowd, and the kids were excellent hosts. The weather was lovely and the conversation was delightful. Another former choir member, Lisa, lives nearby and also was there. She’s a soprano, and if we would have had a bass, we could have performed a few numbers! (Just kidding.)
Thank you for a lovely time, Kristi!
Kristi says
THANK YOU so much for coming! You made my day! We shall have to gather for brotchen again another time.
Brad says
Yay! What a great birthday party! You’re like a hobbit, Kristi -- giving people a gift on your birthday.
If I lived closer, I could have come and sung bass. I used to know “Despair Not” by memory. It’s been a long time, so I might need music now…
Jill says
Now my mouth is watering for some brotchen…sniff. Those were the days.
Kristi says
This was sooo much fun! I feel like we should do brotchen twice a year together. If I make it, will you all come?
Lauren says
I forgot to reply to this -- yes! We’d love to come!
