FINALLY UPDATED: My neighbor is a wonderful person!

February 28, 2019

This stupid old house. Things are old and gross and the caretakers are lazy, so things don’t get better. However, there is a silver lining!

Tonight (Thursday) some St. Paul Lutheran alumni are getting together for a little reunion. I had a bunch of work to do, so I didn’t go. [BREAK]

Ok, I wound up going. That’s one reason this never got done. Let me tell you the rest. Lloyd told me on Tuesday that we’d have company on Thursday, which was fine. We only had to clean the first floor, which is doable. Thursday morning, though, Lloyd noticed that the upstairs toilet – the one that had its guts replaced by me – was leaking. One of the bolts that attach the tank to the seat was failing, and it was drip-drip-dripping all over. This was not fixable by us, since it was the seal around the bolt. DANG IT!!!!!! I didn’t have a tub that could fit underneath the space because of all the plumping nonsense around it, and if you’ll remember, the water can’t be completely shut off up there. I was in High Agitation Mode.

Lloyd went downstairs to find the valve that shuts off the cold water to the upstairs, because for some reason, we have one of those. Later, I called our neighbor, who is a plumber, and he said he could come over and do whatever we needed. He fixed the toilet AND the tub drain that has been broken for months! He even left all the replaced parts in a beautiful arrangement on the counter.

So, Bob saved the say, and whatever the bill is, it is TOTALLY worth it!

Huh. Why was that so hard to write? It must have been all the commas.

Pause. I actually wound up going, then getting back too late to finish the post. I’ll finish it up to tonight.

I think someone’s trying to hack into the website, since I’m locked out of it until 5:45 a.m. Dumb robots, trying to take over the world……
