A bad idea

February 3, 2008

Journal, Lauren

We made our traditional shopping trip to Wal-Mart after church on Sunday, and managed to leave with only three bags of groceries – not too shabby. (We tend to buy a lot of stuff we don’t really need.) This trip, the only unnecessary items we bought were these.

Yucky of the sea.

Yep. Individual cups of marinated fish, ready to enjoy as a quick meal or snack – enjoy them alone or toss them on salads! (Thank you, www.chickenofthesea.com.) Oh, yuck. This was all Lloyd’s idea. The first one he tried was the honey barbeque one. The only three words worse than President Hilary Clinton are Honey Barbeque Salmon. He smelled it and turned visibly pale. He did actually eat the mandarin orange salmon. I pronounced my tiny bite, “Not as gross as I thought it would be.” I imagine the tuna will be better, but I’m not wild about teryaki or cajun. Hey, at least it’s not cheeseburger in a can!

How could you have thought this would end well?

I’m afraid of the pizza lunchables the kids bring for lunch, but scary fishes in a can? Yikes!

I agree, in a can would have been creepy. This was in a cute little plastic cup that said, ” dolphin safe” on the top. Actually, only the tuna said that. You can sort of make it out around the edge of the can cup. Or maybe it was “dolphin safe” as in “child proof”?

      • Peggy Said on:

Yea, I think plastic cups are better, then you don’t get that “metal” taste, although in this case, the metal might have been an improvement.

(in China I hear they have canned cat)

Yikes is right! You guys are very brave, but even braver are those trekkers that purchase (and then eat?) cheeseburger in a can. I betcha it doesn’t look like that photo… uhg…

Laurenburg update: Since we’re over 300 in population, the criminally have arrived, so there’s another option for adding “stuff” to the city. I’ve noticed a few new types of buildings (including a warehouse and what looks like an individual lot with its own toxic waste storage). Also, we seem to have another church.

There’s still no road to peggy’s lake, Karla is still surrounded by hay fields, Brad is eyeing the humane society, Curt hasn’t picked out a house…

Oh, I forgot the real reason I was posting all that. It wasn’t any fun to let the little plugin decide what needed the most help (population, transportation, industry, security). So now all of the possible links show up and you can decide what to do for your own self.

    • Peggy Said on:

Brad is eyeing the Humane Society?!? Dnag it! I guess I’ll have to file for a restraining order … he’s only allowed on the property if he’s adopting & he has to be brought in like this:

Tuna should just taste like tuna. It’s bad enough on its own, don’t you think?
