First of all: Happy Birthday to Lauren’s Dad!
My little sister wanted to use a new theme on her WordPress site, so I spent a little while talking her through what an FTP program was and how to use it to upload new files onto her site. She claims that computers hate her, but she really did a nice job.
She’s a PC person who recently acquired a Macintosh and she’s now suffering thru “Everything is in a different place” syndrome. It happens to everyone. Really everything is in a logical place, but you’d never know that if no one explained the logic to you.
Anyway, she fought her way through a newish computer, strange programs and file server directory structures wonderfully, but when she had everything set and tried to activate the new theme (you see where I’m going with this don’t you?)
Nothing happened.
Well, not exactly nothing. Her whole site disappeared. Changing the theme back restored everything, but it was a disappointment. She was on a really oldish version of WordPress, and just needed an upgrade. I did the upgrading last night, and now her theme is off and running. Go over and take a look, and say “Hi” while you’re there.

I am in awe of anyone who can do anything regarding the innards and guts of computers and their programs. My hat it off to you and your sister. (Does it count if I never actually wear a hat? It’s always off to everyone, y’know.)
Happy Birthday, Dad!

You know what I completely forgot to do last night? Tell my sister that I was going to update her site. When we spoke on Tuesday or Wednesday it wasn’t going to be until the weekend.
I wonder if she’ll notice.

You are such a wonderful brother, Lloyd. I’m glad that I can at least call you cousin. Or in the case of my kids, Uncle. On a side note, who would ever think that besides you two, I would EVER be a firstish post. Great Friday to everyone!
Lloyd says
Whew, I’m glad you said something. It was a little embarrassing with our two comments hanging out all alone.
Peggy says
I LOVE THAT PICTURE!!! Love!! I would hang it in my house!
Great job Lloyd. (I’m don’t understand the full wonderfulness of what you actually did, but I know it was big!)
Peggy says
Has anyone else noticed how I’ve apparently become an illiterate?
(can you ‘Upgrade’ that for me Lloyd?)

Am I supposed to read the title of this post like the song that Christina is alluding to or like “Sunday, Sunday, SUN-DAY!!!”? I’m confused.
But good job with the upgrade, Lloyd! It looks great! 🙂
Lloyd says
Well, I WAS reading it like the song. But I’m not anymore.
Christina says
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you…..I apparently didn’t look at my site until I got home this evening! You are my FAVORITE older brother! I have a couple of things I want to tweak….I will try first myself and call you if I completely mess it up -- HA!
Lloyd says
Yeah, this post really lacked something without your reaction to the whole upgrade thing. The upgrade actually went really well. I think the whole thing took about an hour.
