The building that houses the CDC is old. It was old when we moved into it….. eighteen years ago? It has gone through some mild renovations and many, many, many terrible repairs, mostly preformed by me.
Case in point: this stupid window. I have replaced and repaired the blinds on this three-windowed area so many times I’ve lost count. Mostly the blinds need to be replaced because they are used everyday. (Why do children need darkness to nap?) The last time I replaced it, it wasn’t too sturdy on the wall. I warned the staff that it might have trouble.
Well, today, one of our college staff – a sweet, sensitive, wonderful girl – opened the blinds and they fell off the wall. She was so worried that she had broken them, she tremblingly offered to pay for the repair. I laughed and – after making certain she was not hurt – told her that this was all my fault. No payment necessary.
So, this time I screwed a board to the wall, screwed the brackets to the board, and….
screwed through the actual blind itself. If that thing falls off the wall again, I quit.

Seriously, I think some of your jury-rigged repairs are better than doing it the way a professional would. You should write a book or something. You could call it: “How to Fix Something so It Stays Together for a While”

Faith…Hope….Love…followed by Screw It. Ha! And most intriguing!
And I agree with Brad….write a book… and be sure it contains lots of pictures! I’ll take 3 copies.
