I’m not a Nicolas Cage fan.

February 27, 2007 by Lloyd 15 Comments

Tonight was the February Bad Movie Night. We had a new addition tonight. It was Curt Niermann’s first bad movie night (Jenny Niermann’s younger brother for those of you wno know Jenny). So there were 4 of us in total, and that’s a good number, because then we fit comfortably in a booth at our usual restaurant, which we didn’t go to.

I always hear Johhny Cash singing this

The movie was pretty bad. The acting was reasonable, but the writing wasn’t. I don’t know if it was true to it’s comic book origin. I was never a Ghost Rider fan. My impression was that people who read it were pretty hard core. The fight scenes were boring, but the flaming chain was neat. Yes, a bad movie, however, during the final credits there’s a cool cover of the song (Ghost) Riders in the Sky by Spiderbait, which we also covered at Lauren’s last Ukulele Night. I couldn’t find the song anywhere; it’s not on the soundtrack. If anyone digs it up, let me know.

After the movie we went to Lone Star and everyone had a steak. Even Samith. Then we threw back a couple of shots of whisky and shot up the joint. We barely made it out before the cops arrived.

By the way, I’m not a Nicolas Cage fan. I think the only movie of his that I like is Raising Arizona.

Ghost riders in the sky is a great song. I liked your newspaper write up to. Have a good day.

Mostly I’m sorry you’renot a Nicholas Cage fan. I like him. Especially in “The Rock”, but then again, he’s along side Sean Connery and that makes it all good.
I’m also sorry you dragged Curt down into your mire with you. I’ll have to talk to him about that.
But, finally, I’m sorry that I didn’t get my cupcakes baked for my half-birthday…Happy Half-Birthday to me (sung sadly).

I liked Ghost Rider. I have to keep saying that, too, or Michele is going to make me go to a chick flick. “Chick Flick Monday” just doesn’t have the same appeal.

I’m sorry Lloyd!!! I did a quick glance before chapel and did not realize it was YOUR post. I’m on my knees asking for forgiveness!
Look out Brad – Chick Flick Friday – it’s payback time!

Give her the Penance Stare, Lloyd. Don’t let her take me to a chick flick. That would be truly evil.

You made me reread the post to try to figure out what Lauren had added to it. I was so confused.

<Penance Stare>do not make Brad goto Chick Flick Monday</Penance Stare>

Well, the scene when Nicolas Cage blows satan’s son apart with a shotgun choked me up a little. Oh, and all the parts with the hot chick.

Hey look, my first comment!! I enjoyed my first bad movie night. I didn’t think the movie was to bad, even though I am not a comic book fan. Some of the Ghost Rider’s jestures looked a lot like Elvis. Was that the caracter or was that just Nicolas Cage doing that? Shhh….don’t tell anyone that I am looking at this while at work.

Your secret’s safe with us…after all, I’m pretty sure we ALL look at these while we’re at work, right? Oops, I mean, who’s at work? I don’t know anyone surfing the web while they’re at work. Not a one.

Curt, I’m sorry that you had to get dragged into all of that. I’m sure they’re going to try and make you go again and again and again. There’s no stopping those monsters.

I guess it’s true that small towns (is Seward a small town?) are usually just sent a rough draft of Hollywood movies 🙁 The Ghost Rider the rest of the country saw was good, real good … I wonder what other movies you’ve seen in their incompletion … Did you know that in Star Wars, they travel around the galaxy & in Charlotte’s Web, the animals talk and Rocky does win!

I was thinking that it would be better if Rocky won. Huh, who knew?

I have to agree with you about not being a Nicolas Cage fan. He has ruined many a good movie for me – including American Treasure. Which would have been a good movie if it had a good actor like Matthew Mcconaughey (he’s really cute)
