A couple of nights ago I was driving home from Wal-Mart as the sun was setting, and I came across a golden field of (insert correct grain name here) that was filled with fireflies! It was absolutely magical, but I didn’t have the camera. So, the next night I told Lloyd and Brad that we had to go see them. I had the time wrong and we were way too early, so it was a little disappointing, but there was a pretty good thunderstorm off to the south, and Lloyd took a bunch of pictures – and got this:
(In case you’re curious, the fireflies did come out later, but the pictures didn’t show up. Go figure.)

Very cool shot! Some of the best thunderstorms & and discharges of atmospheric electricity I’ve ever seen is in Florida in the summer. Very terrifying & loud!!
And maybe they were vampire fireflies … vampires can’t be photographed you know … so make sure you have your cross & garlic if you ever stop by there again!
Brad says
How would you ever kill a vampire firefly? A stake through the heart? That would be really hard!
