And now a word from our future sponsor: www.twodogpond.com
We have a friend who Lloyd used to work with when he was at Oetting’s Detasseling, Rachel Pozehl. She makes wicked cool jewelry – and it’s a very cool idea. She can take any image – a photo, a map, a piece of a postcard, letter, book, whatever – shrink it if need be, then put it in a necklace/ornament/whatever. She sandwiches the art between two pieces of glass and solders it together. Plus, since there are two sides, she can put something else on the other side! It’s very clever stuff, as she is a clever lady.
Annette has one of her boys when they were little and the word ‘Mine’ on the back. Kate gave one to her daughter who was going to Chicago for college that had a piece of a Nebraska map with Seward on it and the word ‘Home’ on the back. We also gave a few as Christmas Presents.
Beth says
Does she do keychains? That would be a very cool key chain for me…
Brad says
Those are cool. Can she do other flat stuff besides pictures? I’m thinking a flower or hair or a movie ticket stub or something like that.
Peggy says
Hair? Absolutely not! No preserving hair from your torturous kills … you sicko!
Lauren says
Oh, Peggy. How cow can I succinctly tell you the story of College Brad, who collected hair from people to save them for the future when cloning would be possible?
Peggy says
Seriously? Does he still have the hair? Are these people still living or did they meet an untimely demise? Would he still want to clone these people?
Are you sure it wasn’t just all his hair, so he could have umpteen Brad’s cloned? Forget succinctly … I need all the dirt on this please!
Beth says
Seriously. And, yes, he still has all the hair collected. From an amazing number of people…and only a few have died since collection…
I’ll let Lauren elaborate.
Rachel Pozehl says
YES! I can do keychains – cell phone charms – zipper pulls – if it dangles, I can do it!
Yes – I am putting old keys between glass – that’s cool too and am waiting for an e-bay package of cool old coins that I am going to put between glass. Lots of things work!
Lauren says
I think that should be one of your mottos: “If it dangles, we can do it!”
Lloyd says
What’s the strangest thing that you’ve ever put between glass?
Two Dog Pond says
I can’t tell you. But it rhymes with sugar.
Lauren says
Mugar? Pugar? Wugar? Schlugar? I don’t get it.
Heh heh.
Peggy says
Ewww … was it a movie star’s?
Peggy says
Was it a school project?
Peggy says
…. the hair thing …??? Very strange keepsakes to keep!
Lauren says
How disturbed are you by this, Peggy? Have you noticed any unusual behavior on Brad’s part lately? Perhaps asking you to ‘borrow your hairbrush’? or ‘Pardon me, but you appear to have a piece of lint in your hair – got it!’.
Michele says
I remember talking with Brad a while back about his hair collection. I don’t recall why or how we ever got on the topic of this rare obsession, but I think we were discussing possible ways he could store the hairs of his collection. I think this crafty friend of Lloyd’s could make glass dogtags for each specimen – hair on one side, the person’s name on the other and a note saying “Break glass in case of an emergency!” Brad could wear them all as bling!

We’ve received our first items from Two Dog Pond – a necklace and wine bangle for Mom and Dad’s wedding anniversary. They were beautiful! Thanks for the wonderful idea!
Lauren says
Cool! I’m so happy you got some!!
