Hooray!! I have successfully rid our house of all the evil wallpaper. I believe the attack on the entryway ivy began back in May – again, in painfully small steps – but now it’s done. I was telling Lloyd on the phone that I’d like to do some work on the downstairs bathroom while he was gone – maybe rip out some flooring, put in a steam shower or something – and he said (with a heavy sigh), “Why don’t you just finish the entry?” That’s crazy talk, mister. Who finishes a project before starting another?
It involved applying primer this time. The old owners didn’t prime the walls before they put on the paper, so I did a little damage removing it. We call that ‘character’ when you live in an old house. Just ask Beth.
It’s not the best picture of the finished product because it’s not daytime.
Now, on to that steam shower…..
In other news, Lloyd is home with his family, and they’re up to their dam tricks again. (Really – they were building a dam. Here’s proof.)
Beth says
YAY!! It’s done! I love the “character” of old houses – makes all things in decorating and re-doing easier! 😉
Maybe you could solicit donations of decorative items to be hung on those walls. I bet we could come up with quite a collection. Or maybe not. Brad might give you a rabbit pelt.
Brad says
You’d make a good contractor. They’re always finishing behind schedule. 🙂
Beth says
I think Brad in the window of that third pic is a little creepy… c.r.e.e.p.y.
Lauren says
He’s picking his nose – can you tell? Silly picture ruiner.
Deanne says
I’m greatly impressed, with both the house and the dam.

May of ’08? I’d say you’re way ahead of schedule.
I started a latch hook rug in 1999, and I still have about 5 rows to go. Seriously.
Mark says
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks wallpaper is evil. It took me almost a year to get it off my dining room walls. Sadly, there are other rooms in our house that still have ugly wallpaper, but I’ve learned my lesson. Better ugly wallpaper than rehanging drywall.
Lauren says
Amen, Mark-who-is-not-my-brother-Mark! Wallpaper is the curse of homeowners. I thought about just painting over it, but I don’t want the next homeowners to curse me.
