One of the younger preschoolers at the center has Down syndrome. He spends the afternoons in my room: nap, snack and playtime. He is not a great eater – he’s pretty picky- and he’s an even worse drinker. He likes to play with his milk or juice cup and winds up wearing most of it. I feel bad because he’s not getting any of it into his body.
I’m looking into a couple of different kinds of no-spill cups. We don’t want to use a sippy cup because he should be able to use a regular cup. One is on its way from Amazon, but a coworker showed me this kind. It’s amazing! The lid has a special gasket that is sealed until you take a drink. It’s really quite amazing. The pressure of your upper lip breaks the seal when you take a drink.
Of course, I had to play with it. I tried pouring it out – no spill! (I had to try drinking from it, too.) Super cool.

I thought it was going to be one of those cups that stick to the table unless you pull straight up on it. Those are pretty freaky.

Interesting, very interesting.
