I put away the October calendar numbers and got out November. Every time I do that I think about how many years I’ve pulled those numbers out. Some months are newer than others, some have alternating pictures so we can talk about pattern, some months – May (flowers) and December (Advent things) – are made of construction paper and are so very, very faded. Each year I say, “We need new shapes” and then do nothing about it.
If I’m counting correctly, this is my 24th November that I’ve been teaching. 22 of them in preschool. I think I may be in a bit of a rut.

I have liked and disliked being at new schools and teaching new subjects. On the one hand, it is interesting and challenging to make new plans, but on the other hand, I miss those excellent lesson plans that were so good I used them year after year and they just kept getting better and better.
