I had my two, two-hour-long dental cleanings last week. It was a bit mortifying because so many of the staff there are past preschool parents, and my teeth were so gross. However, everyone was very professional and there was very little pointing and laughing.
At the first cleaning, she suggested that I have my lower jaw numbed, and near the end of the carnage, she tactfully said, “Well……. I’m glad we numbed you…” The bits of red stuff on the ends of the dental tools agreed with her.
There was So. Much. Tartar. The wire behind my lower teeth (from when I had braces in my late twenties) used to have a nice layer of tartar under the cement blobs, but now that’s gone and the wire feels new again, making my speech weird again.
Anyway, it’s done, and I will do my best to keep the tartar at bay. (Except under the cement.)

I’ve watched such a procedure on the “oddly satisfying” subreddit. It was fascinating.
On Wednesday, I go in to the dentist for the third? fourth? time this year. I’m getting a new crown! Woo hoo!

Can they just take that wire out?

I think it might be the only thing keeping my teeth in my jaw at this point.

I do like the feeling of CLEAN after being to the dentist. It’s so refreshing.
