I’m writing this Thursday mid-morning, which is when I woke up. You’ll be reading this Friday, and if my test is negative and I don’t have symptoms, I’ll be back at work. This is like a science-fiction timeline-split situation. I wonder what will happen?
I slept FOREVER this morning because I took some nighttime cold and flu medicine. That was like magic. Tuesday and Wednesday morning I woke up at my usual times, had a cup of coffee to stave off the caffeine headache, then thought, “I’m really not so bad. I bet I could get some stuff done.” Then an hour later I was back in bed. (Rats. I was kind of hoping it would be like that time in my early teaching career when they sent me home with pink eye. I went shopping!)
My runny nose stopped Tuesday morning, and my fever stopped Tuesday night. The cough is so stupid – all it’s doing is popping a cap of mucus out of my throat or it’s only a tickle. There is zero gunk in my lungs, so it’s just a reactive thing. I have a powerful cough syrup that I’ve taken. (Deborah, I even tried honey and whiskey when it got really annoying.) My head hurts pretty steadily, buy Tyenol helps with that. Mostly I’m just tired. Also, I came home on Monday, put pajama pants on, and have not changed or showered since then. I am kind of gross.
I thought maybe I’d experience the taste/smell thing, but nothing except that I seem to experience ‘salt tasting’ on the roof of my mouth? Could I have mutant taste buds? Am I really in a science fiction story??
Alright. Back to bed. It’s only Thursday for me, after all.
UPDATE: I took two tests this morning and am negative. Woo-hoo! They have coverage for the morning but the afternoon is bad because finals are over. I’m going in at noon. Also, I feel pretty normal. Thank you, Jesus!

I have another concoction for a cough, if you are interested. It’s super gross, but effective.
Kristi says
Let us all pray that the children are really subdued for you today.
Brad says
There’s something going around here that’s not covid, but causes a really persistent cough. Most kids are staying out for several days.
