I’ve been a bit busy lately, so here’s a cop-out interactive post.
What’s (one of) the weirdest things you used to eat/snack on as a kid?
I used to swipe my finger along the top of the butter stick. Mmmmm…… butter……

Ah, there’s nothing like the smoky, grilled scent of line-dried laundry.
Yep, that’s dinner cooking on the grill, right next to the wet clothes. I thought about moving one or the other, but – whatever.
I did this two days in a row. You’d think I’d be smarter than that, but no.
Yes, those are sheets on the drying rack in the second photo. Bedtime tonight is going to smell delicious.
(By the way, the drying rack is on sale for the summer! Click here.)
Nothing happened that I want to post about, and it’s late and I want to go to bed.
Somebody say something interesting, please.
Lloyd here, I would just like to point out that there is a Woot-Off going on today over at woot.com. Woot sells one item each day until they sell out (you can buy 1, 2 or 3 of the item), but on Woot-Offs they get rid of all of their extra items from the last month or so. So they have a new –usually very, very cheap– item every 10 minutes or so.
If you haven’t been to woot before, it’s worth a visit just to read their descriptions of the items. The whole site is very tongue-in-cheek.
I’ve said it before – I really like walking home. The weather’s been crazy windy lately, but I love walking in the wind. Wind is the only thing that Nebraska has going for it, so I enjoy it. It whips your hair all around and the leaves go crazy on the trees – very fun. What I don’t enjoy is inner elbow sweat. I carry a tote bag that has all my junk in it and I have to hold onto the strap so it doesn’t fall off my shoulder.
What results is I.E.S. It’s ‘moist’ – my least favorite word.
Do you think I’d look funny with a towel wrapped around my arm?
Or a parasol? I’ve seriously considered a parasol – not for the sweat, but for the shade.
Have I said too much?

So, the work day was done, the weather was lovely, and I was walking home to take a nap. A couple of blocks away from school I saw a bird sitting on a branch – it was a fairly large bird, but it had a cloud of fuzz on it’s head. (‘Bird’s head is so fuzzy, they call him Peach.’ Wait. We’re not supposed to make bird jokes.) Anyway, it was obviously a baby bird that just got kicked out of the nest, because it didn’t try to fly away from me. I decided that this would make a nice enough post, and went to get my camera out of my bag…..
Drat. No camera.
Back to work. Got the camera. Back to the bird, who still hadn’t moved but was now making some pitiful cries. Took the picture. Walked home. Napped.
End of story. Not very good, but they can’t all be winners.
Oh, and for a wonderfully melancholy bird-related song, click here.
I had to buy new trash bags yesterday. Our roll-out trash can holder is on its last legs, but I’m trying to repair it with wire, string and happy thoughts. (Just until I can find one that makes my heart go pitter-pat.) Anyway, since I can’t think of anything else to write about, I’ll ask you how you keep your trash bag from falling into your can. I tie a knot in the bag before putting it in, making a snug fit around the top – learned from classroom trash cans. I also just tie up the bag when it goes out instead of using those wire trash ties – they’re much too valuable for repairs.
There. If there’s a more boring topic out there this Friday, I’d love to hear about it.
