How I will sleep tonight’s anyone’s guess.
A small glass of wine and a nice breezy fan,
Hopefully resting as best as I can.
Dishes can wait and the mess on the table?
That can all wait and not all poems rhyme.

Another Lego story
A while back, when the Other Sommmerers were renting a house here in Seward, Lloyd went over and had some Lego Time with Sam and Gracen. He made a cute little combine – a corn picker. I think he might have had some help.
Well, Sam went and entered it in the county fair this summer! Lloyd won second prize and five whole bucks. (The ribbon says ‘Participant’ because apparently they ran out of second place ribbons? That all sounds a little fishy to me… come to think of it, I am missing five bucks…..)
Ain’t it cute? You know what else is cute? Sam’s tractor.
Yep. He won TEN bucks – first place correct ribbon to show for it.
Good job, boys.
Le-eh-go! Le-eh-go!
(Sing that like Elsa singing ‘Let it go!’)
Sunday was busy. The ministry staff was dedicated at both services, then Sam helped Lloyd hang a television on the wall in the school-age room (a later post). After that, Lloyd and I ran away from our responsibilities and joined Sam for a Lego convention in Lincoln.
It was spectacular! There were so many clever creations, and I was in awe of all these people using their imaginations to turn their ideas into reality. I took many pictures, and these are just a handful.
‘Yay’ for Douglas Adams!
There were so many mini buildings with clever plants.
Tiny, tiny little creatures:
Large portraits:
And crazyily detailed miniature scenes!
This is a car dealership. Note the detail in the offices…
… and the waiting room.
My favorite, though? The tiny Rush concert complete with an iPad background and flashing lights! (You can see Sam to the left as it begins.)
I didn’t even get murdered!
So, the Perseid meteor shower is happening these next couple of nights and I wanted to see some meteors. Lloyd was in Missouri Friday night, and I have church commitments on Sunday, so Friday was the only option. The interwebs warned that sightings would not be very clear due to the brightness of the moon, but if you could get somewhere dark before moonrise, you might see some.
I had a plan. I was going to wait until just before complete sunset on Friday and drive somewhere dark and watch out the car window. Well, why not the lake? Hmmm, if I’m going to the lake, there’s the possibility I just might camp. I took along some bedding, a camp chair, a ‘pressed log’ and some water. I was completely fine with not getting out of the car if it felt unsafe.
It felt very safe. There were many, many people out camping. Nearly all the sites were full, and they were big groups of people all talking and laughing, and no crazy drunk kids in sight. I set up the Prius tent, settled in to watch the sky for 20 minutes (until the moon rose) and….
nothing.
No meteors. Glorious stars, but no meteors. I just went to sleep.
In the morning, I walked around camp and saw fifteen tents, three boats and two campers.
I left right away, though, because I hadn’t brought any food and I was hun-gry.
A fun little adventure!
None shall pass.
Ready for the zombies
I was driving to the computer store to pick-up some iPads for Lincoln Lutheran students, when traffic came to a stand still. I was right at an intersection, so I thought I would just make a little jog to bypass whatever craziness was taking place ahead of me.
I went about a block and came to this house:
They are clearly working on their preparations for the Zombie Apocalypse, and who can blame them. I was impressed with their efforts thus far. They are not yet completely around the house, but the stack is about 6 feet thick, so you could walk around on the top and pick zombies off without being in any danger of falling off the wall.
Also, I may have been playing too many zombie games this summer. Also, there have been other posts about zombies.
