A futile trip

February 24, 2009 by Lauren 17 Comments

I dashed into Lincoln tonight to run a few errands, and was mostly disappointed by it all.

They didn’t have my hairspray at Shopko, and the curtains I bought there are not going to work out. (That’s another post for another day, so don’t ask.) Stupid hairspray. Stupid not-measuring-before-you-buy.

At Sam’s they had the food I needed, and when I went to the clearance area I almost flipped out with joy! They had the OmniWool socks I’ve been looking for! ($15 for three pair, and they are so soft and warm! I bought a pack at Christmas and have since regretted not getting more.) A whole big box of them!! I was going to buy them all …… except that these were ‘Large’, and I need ‘Medium’. I looked and looked through this box three times in vain. To document my sorrow I quickly took a picture. Stupid wrong-sized socks.

Seriously? Not one medium-sized pair in the bunch?

Then, on the way home, I turned the radio to 87.7 to listen to NBC, as is my custom, and all I got was static. Stupid television stations switching their signal to digital….. grrrrr…..

shhhhhhhhshhhhhshhhhhhhhhshhhhh

The evening wasn’t a total loss, though. My folks made it all ok in the end. When I got home there was an envelope in the mail, and inside:

Hi, Mom!

It’s my mom on a stamp!! Thanks, you guys! All’s well that ends well.

Lehmans Rock!

Karla, nothing has made me laugh harder after opening an envelope. You guys rule! (Click the picture if you’re new to the story).

How will I ever use them?

You are in the category of ‘People who can buy exactly the right thing for someone’. My hat’s off to you!
