Lauren

Pants on fire.

March 12, 2007 by Lauren 9 Comments

Today Lloyd got up, showered, got dressed for school, followed me out the driveway, drove to the city limits of Seward…..then turned right around, came home, and cleaned up the yard.

He did not have school today, even though when I asked this weekend, “Are you out on Monday?  We’re going to have a lot of children at the center because Seward is out.”  He lied and said, “No.”

He did this once before.  The last time he cleaned up the whole basement.  It’s such a shock because his deception is so thorough.  I mean….driving away? Dressed up?  Coming home is so disorienting.  “Why is he home?  Why is he wearing that?  Why is it so clean?  Am I dead?”

Here are some photos of his amazingness, though they are only meaningful if you can understand that we HATE yardwork, and every nook and cranny was filled with a foot of compacted leaves and dead weeds.  Brad has been our only lifeline to greenery, though Lloyd has really stepped it up recently.  It’s really too bad that there are no ‘before’ pictures.  Lloyd said he raked up seventeen billion trash cans of leaves from the front yard and side garden.

Tired liar.

Ready for planting!

Daylight Stealing Time

March 12, 2007 by Lauren 4 Comments

Be sure to check out www.bethtastic.com to read her questions about clocks!

Now to our story: Our cell phones came with many features, and my favorite one is that you can set three alarms. (I have a paranoia about oversleeping in the morning. Big surprise, huh?) Anyway, on Sundays I set alarms for 7:15 (the ‘warning’ alarm), 7:45 (the actual alarm), and 8:00 (the ‘you overslept’ alarm). Well, the cell phone people didn’t change their towers for Daylight Savings Time until sometime mid-afternoon, so I blame them for why we missed 9:00 church.

Uke Night …4?

March 10, 2007 by Lauren 5 Comments

I lost track. We missed one because of the weather, so while this is the fifth time the group has met, it was only our fourth. I think. Why am I saying all this? You, the reader, do not care.

Cool dudes

This is arguable the best picture of the night. The older gentleman, Jack (sitting down), could only stay for half of practice, then he picked up his harp to head out to another gig!

It was a very fun evening – there were about twenty of us there, and afterwards we went out to eat at some pizza & sub shop that served beer (Hooray beer!) and talked for a while. For non-social me, it was surprisingly pleasant!

By the way – Happy Birthday, Deborah! Hooray, Deborah!

What are the chances?

March 9, 2007 by Lauren 5 Comments

One of the things that I hardly ever, ever do is wash my truck.  Really, I treat that vehicle with very little respect.  I’ve never checked the oil (I think Lloyd might), never put in wiper fluid, I think I’ve vacuumed it out once, and the interior lights haven’t worked for three or four years.

Yesterday, however, the weather was awesome.  It started out cold and freezing, but by afternoon it was sunny, warm and lovely!  Driving home, I thought, “I’m gonna run this thing through a car wash!” I spent the maximum amount  – six whole dollars!  Undercarriage wash, pre-rinse, triple wash, spot-free – the works!  It was so shiny, I even thought about vacuuming it again.

When I woke up this morning, it was raining.  Wouldn’t you know it.

Now, Lloyd arrives home last every night, so he parks in the driveway behind my truck with his car. For this long week of cooking, however, I’ve been driving Lloyd’s car to the center, and when he leaves home he bring the truck to my work and switches vehicles.  Today, though, when I went to my ‘truck’ – the car was still there!  I called to ask why he drove the truck to Lincoln.

“I’m going to buy a big screen t.v.” he replied.

“Really?!” I asked.

“No, I took your truck in to get it washed.”

“wuh?”

Yep.  He spent twenty bucks on it.  I can’t get mad, though, because honestly – what are the chances?  So here’s our shiny, shiny, shiny truck that gets washed twice a year.  Good luck, rest of 2007.

God bless Lloyd

March 8, 2007 by Lauren 3 Comments

Too bad I don’t have a camera here IN BED, because that’s where I’m writing this post from! This is a donated laptop (for school) that Lloyd got a wireless card from www.woot.com for twenty bucks! He’s awesome.

And now, to sleep. I’ve been making breakfasts at school this week, and it makes me tired. God bless Annette, too – she’s been doing it for two months while we’ve been trying to find a cook.

God bless everyone. Good night.

Coincidence? I think not.

Annette has a dog, Pokie, who looks suspiciously like someone from my  childhood.
