Lauren

A productive day.

shiny, shiny bathroom

Whoa!  Shiny!

Yeah, it’s brown!  A rich, deep brown called Bavarian Oak, appropriate since after seeing my mother’s family tree I found that many of my ancestors are from Bavaria.  We Bavarians aren’t afraid of color.  (And make all your color-of-poop jokes now – there’s not a one I can’t handle.)

Here’s a different view that’s not so shiny.  In other news, I mowed up all the leaves in the yard.  Lloyd is still stuck at work putting all that junk away.

Brown is a most excellent color.

Truce!

November 10, 2006 by Lauren 9 Comments

Attention: fans and lurkers

Alright.  We’ve now had seperate discussions with both Brad and Beth, and we are calling a truce.  The stress of coming up with something good to say is starting to wear on our nerves.  So here’s the proposal: No longer do people have to try to come up with a super-witty comment or post.  Any comment is welcome, and all posts are magnificent!

Here’s my non-exciting post:

Dang dirt.

This bag of potting soil has been in our dining room since October 12th.  I didn’t buy it, and I’m not moving it.  So there!

Dumb cat picture

November 8, 2006 by Lauren 2 Comments

cat. I'm a kitty cat.

If you ever want to play a mean practical joke on someone, forget toilet papering their house or sticking plastic forks in their yard.   Wallpaper their bathroom.  It’s the cruelest thing you can do.

I was stomping into the bathroom – in a bad mood of course because of all the disgusting glue – and Pfennig chose that moment to be adorable.

Way to go, cat.

Toasty warm

November 7, 2006 by Lauren 1 Comment

A giant snake of warmth.

This is a towel warmer that I bought today at Tuesday Morning.  It was only $10, and it’s the last one.  (Drat.)  I really would like to have a reason to keep it here at home, but we already have a towel warmer in the upstairs bathroom.  I rationalized buying it because I thought we could use it at work.  In the winter, the children’s mittens get sopping wet when it snows, and when we go out again in the afternoon, their hands are wet and cold.  So……the noble thing to do is figure out a way to use it to dry their mittens.  (I’m test-drying a wet napkin and wet glove in the picture.  Their counterparts are drying elsewhere – control group and all that.)  The selfish thing to do is keep it here.

What will I do?  Vote, America!

Success!

November 6, 2006 by Lauren 8 Comments

I especially love the googly eyes.

 Mmmmm...popsicles...

The nephews have written back!  Hooray!! If you’ll remember, I sent them some self-addressed stamped postcards with the mission to draw the first thing they saw. The orange is from Charlie – eight years old. I especially like the stinky sock. (It shows we are related.)  Jacob – six – drew the popsicle, which shows that he’s a boy after Lloyd’s own heart.  We’ll be playing another round soon!>
