Rockin’ in Papillion!

November 4, 2006 by Lauren 5 Comments

Last night I got this e-mail:

  • WHAT: First Nebraska ukulele club get together.
  • WHEN: Saturday, November 4th at 5pm ’till the cops shut us down.
  • WHERE: The upstairs stage area of D/Rocks Music 147 N. Washington Street Papillion , NE .
  • WHY: Because ukulele is too much fun to not share with others!

Oh, yeah!!! So after a hard day of cleaning up my classroom for Sunday’s Open House, Lloyd and I headed up toward Omaha. (Lloyd said he had to come along because he wasn’t comfortable leaving me alone with possible ukulele geeks because he was fairly certain I would be the hottest (a.k.a. ‘only’) girl there.

As it turned out, there were FOURTEEN ukers there, and six of us were girls! It was crazy fun. Lloyd took pictures because he said people wouldn’t believe that I knew that many people in Nebraska with ukuleles.  He was a great sport and even played along! Perfect score!

If you like a ukulele lady, or lad.....
(We’re meeting again next month if anyone wants to come along.)

P.S. Happy Birthday to Macy G!

Remember these guys?

Can't think of clever title; would appreciate clever title suggestions.

Mom just sent me this picture. It was taken a few months ago, and since many of you had seen my dad and brothers when they were younger, I thought a little update would be in order. Andrew is on the left, then dad, Aaron and me (the one with the funny hair). It took along time to take this photo, because it was hard to get Aaron, Andrew and I to all squint at the same time. I had to crop the picture because none of us are wearing pants.

New Plan

October 23, 2006 by Lauren 4 Comments

I am, admittedly, the world’s worst aunt.  I never write, never call, and get birthdays wrong or don’t get cards or presents sent.  It’s a horrible flaw.  Anyway, I have a plan to communicate with my nephews more.  Target has these cool card & envelope sets.  The cards aren’t foldy cards, so I wrote a note on one, and wrote my address & put stamps on two of them (so now they’ve become postcards from them to me).  The plan is for the boys to read my card, which (loosely) says  “Draw something that you see right now and get this postcard into the mail lickity-split!”  Hopefully they’ll think it’s funny & fun.

a box of cheery colors!
