‘M’ is for Lasagna

April 4, 2007 by Lauren 4 Comments

After each having a pretty bad day, Lloyd and I pigged out on lasagna made in the ultra-cool Baker’s Edge pan.  The noodles fit just right – after snapping off about two inches from each end.  This recipe uses the ‘no-boil-um-first’ method, which didn’t work well the first time I made it back in ought-one.  This time it was much better.  It turns out that you don’t need to worry about turning the corners – they just expand during cooking and fill up the space.

All in all, a good dinner.  Here’s to a better tomorrow! (It’s got to be better – leftover lasagna!)

An 'M' or an upside-down 'W'? You decide.

A River of Darkness

April 3, 2007 by Lauren 12 Comments

(Dang it, I did it again.  Happy YesterTuesbirthdays to Stephannie and Jacob!)

Serpentine goodness

It’s here!  It’s here!  I ordered a brownie pan from Bakers Edge that makes all sides and corners!!!!  I’ve had brownie mix on standby for days, and today the pan finally arrived!!  I know this news won’t excite all you ‘gooey middles’ people, but I love the edges of brownies.   So tough and chewy…mmm….   Unfortunately I was too anxious to get this batch out of the oven, so they turned out a little softer than I would have liked.  (I wanted crunchy!)

They have other recipes, too.  Lloyd’s most excited about doing lasagna (layers stay stacked), and I’m curious to try to roast something – you put the veggies in the bottom and put the roast on the top.  Crazy!

Dry run - get it? 'Dry?' noodles? never mind.

God bless Lloyd

March 8, 2007 by Lauren 3 Comments

Too bad I don’t have a camera here IN BED, because that’s where I’m writing this post from! This is a donated laptop (for school) that Lloyd got a wireless card from www.woot.com for twenty bucks! He’s awesome.

And now, to sleep. I’ve been making breakfasts at school this week, and it makes me tired. God bless Annette, too – she’s been doing it for two months while we’ve been trying to find a cook.

God bless everyone. Good night.

Cute Plane

February 18, 2007 by Lauren 2 Comments

I finally got around to going through my valentines from the children, and this one struck me as pretty darn clever.  It’s a roll of Smarties, with a stick of gum on the back held on by a rubber band threaded through two big Lifesavers.   I’m normally not a crafty person, but this was great!  (AnI think I bent the gum leaving it in the bag too long.)

I forgot to say, “Thanks, Jarod!  And Jarod’s mom!”

Fly me to the moon, and let me sail among the stars.

Cool Scoop

January 23, 2007 by Lauren 7 Comments

My Mom and Dad bought this for me last spring.  It took me a while to get around to using it, since I’m not a big ice cream eater.  (I usually just scoop a spoonful out of the carton and eat it then.)  This thing is AMAZING!  It scoops like a dream in the closed position, then when you open it – instant falling into the bowl.  I highly recommend it.  The brand name is Good Cook.
