Birthday TV

December 20, 2009 by Lloyd 11 Comments

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. The hotel in Omaha was a fine establishment, but I think we’ll stay with the 2.5-star hotels in the future. We got the 3-star for $45 (that’s the highest rating on Price-Line), but had to pay extra for parking and there was no free wi-fi. Next time I think we’ll go for our standard $35 2-star hotel. If you use Price-Line for hotels, you should look at betterbidding.com. I think Brent Royuk told me about it.

I stared at TVs for a long time the first night, but didn’t buy anything. I wanted to do a little more research. The next day, we ended-up getting one from the clearance section that wasn’t there the first night. It’s a return. The reason for return? “Didn’t fit. Wrong size.” In my experience that means buyer’s remorse. It’s smaller than I thought I wanted, but once we got it home, I’m glad we didn’t get anything bigger. It’s a model that Consumer Reports recommended. To christen it we watched Slumdog Millionaire.

In with the new.

Oh, and Lauren got some birthday gambling in. She broke even, but I cost us $10.

word to the wisepriceline

I’m writing this from Lloyd’s iPhone so this will be short. 8 words: don’t order a one star hotel on priceline. Full story and photos when we get home on Tuesday. While you’re waiting, why not share a handy household tip?

Wrappin’ it up

May 10, 2008 by Lauren 4 Comments

First of all, Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms who read this, especially to our own!

Our Omaha trip is over and done.  The best part was that we Pricelined a hotel and got one that had a kitchen it it.  Hooray!  It was like camping – bringing along food to cook in a tiny environment, but no bugs, tent, campfire…. ok, it’s nothing like camping.  It’s much, much better.

I had hoped to post some cool pictures, but wouldn’t you know it – my camera battery died Friday morning. All I’ve got is a little proof that we actually went to the game:

Run, Forrest!

What I saw in the women’s restroom during my game-winning pee:

Waht’s worng wiht tihs pitcure?

We walked around the old downtown area afterwards and saw some cool sculptures:

Fly away, little birds.

And visited a candy store:

Mmmmmmmm……

And I don’t remember what else we did because the camera died and I have a horrible memory. I think we did some shopping, and ate some food. I seem to recall ukulele night happened, too.

On the road again….

November 26, 2006 by Lauren 2 Comments

It’s about 9 a.m. (Mountain Time) and we’re getting ready to leave our  BEAUTIFUL hotel room in Denver.  On the way to Colorado, we Pricelined a room for $50 and got a crummy ‘suite’ that was just a little creepy.  It had a kitchenette, but no soap for the dishes, so I just trusted that the dishes were clean and God would keep us safe as we ate our soup.

But, THIS place can be had by bidding a mere $40!  For some reason, we’ve been here several times, and it’s great.  A beautiful kitchen with Corian countertops and a dishwasher, gorgeous linens, free internet connection – it makes me weep with joy.  Check out their website! http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/DENTK

We had a great time with my parents – lots of delicious food, good company, and we even helped hang Christmas lights and put up the tree.  Their neighbors have a crazy huge display that takes up their whole yard and draws visitors from miles around, so that was fun to see, too.

It’s too bad we didn’t have a camera, because there were many great things to see.  You’ll just have to wait until we get home and I will draw it in stick figures.  Thanks for keeping this going, guys!
