vet

Dnag it.

November 25, 2008 by Lauren 14 Comments

No new oven for me.  Boooooo.

It had like twelve screws.

In other news, Cricket had a ‘sample’ dropped off at the vet today.  Stupid cat. Why’d she have to make me love her? I’ll keep you posted about  her progress.  *sigh*  Maybe we should just have them both put to sleep and have a long weekend of mourning.  (Well, I would mourn and Lloyd would bring me Kleenex.)

Yo yo cat

October 29, 2008 by Lauren 6 Comments

(Warning: If you are eating breakfast while reading this, I say ‘poop’.)

So, I dropped a poop sample off at the vet to see why Cricket has had troubles the past two weeks.  They called with the results – no parasites, thank goodness, but she might be missing some beneficial bacteria from her system due to the antibiotic shot she got a while back.  The vet said, “Bulk up her diet with some special cat food (iams) and try giving her some ‘active cultures’.”  So, I stood in the dairy aisle and perused the yogurt selection….for my cat.

So many flavors.

Yep.  The stuff that’s good for us might just restore my cat to normal.  I actually hemmed and hawed on which flavor to buy, and then I realized that she’ll eat anything.  Really. Some of the things Cricket likes to eat:

Chips
Ice Cream
Donuts
Bugs
Red bell pepper
Avocado
Corn on the cob
Peas
Really, any veggies
Chocolate chip cookies
(I think she actually might be a dog.)

So, strawberry yogurt was obviously the way to go, because that’s the flavor I like. We’ll be splitting a carton for the next eight days.
Yum.

UPDATE

October 4, 2008 by Lauren 13 Comments

So we went to the vet this morning and yes, there was prodding, and yes, we are exceedingly grateful for the muzzle.  Cricket had an infection of her anal glands (if you have a strong stomach, you can read about it here), and so Dr. Ellis had to ‘express’ them, which would have killed us all if we hadn’t used the muzzle.  She got a shot, and now she’s in the bathroom cursing. Happy Saturday! What a calming backdrop.

Poor widdle Pfennig

February 28, 2007 by Lauren 10 Comments

I broke down and took Pfennig to the vet.  She’s had a crusty/goopy eye for an embarrassingly long amount of time.  (Since….December? I don’t know.)  She’s ok, just some conjunctivitis that may be blocking her tear ducts. The cute vet* said that we had two options – just do some eye medicine and hope that it cures everything, or put her under anesthesia and flush out her tear ducts with money.  Of course, I’m trying the eye cream first.

It is much more pleasant taking Pfennig to the vet than Cricket.  Cricket lashes out at everyone there and one time she bit all the way through my finger.  Pfennig just trembles and shoots fur out in clouds.  This time she got to stay in the box for the whole thing. (We don’t have a cat carrier since I gave it away with a kitten in it once.  The box is far funnier.)

Woe to me!

* I should say, “One of the cute vets”, for there are three – all cute.

What could happen if you let eye infections go too long?  Ned can tell you….

Avast, mateys! Play me a sea chanty!!!!
