Deeter had his physics class outside a few days ago and I went to investigate.
The Chemistry and Biology classes had much better weapons*, but couldn’t figure out how to deliver them, so the physicists were ultimately victorious.
*Classical, not modern physics, you twit.
So, despite our best efforts to turn Saturday into First Floor Saturday (meaning we wouldn’t leave the first floor all day), Lloyd had a concert so we had to clean up and get out of pajamas. He showered first, then we talked for a while while he reclined at the top of our steps. (It’s surprisingly comfortable.) He got sleepy, so I went to take my shower. When I returned, he had a stowaway.

We had a very nice visit with Lloyd’s folks this weekend. I always freak about about what to cook for people, but we were only home for breakfasts, and that’s a meal I can safely make. We had bacon and eggs yesterday, and an experiment today!
I can’t take credit for this, since I saw it on Slashfood a while ago, but we had french toast made in a waffle iron. The Texax toast pieces fit in my cheap-o Belgian waffle maker perfectly!
I liked them a lot. I was so pleased with the result, we made garlic toast for dinner the same way! Slap some butter on both sides of bread, sprinkle on a little garlic salt, then leave them in there a couple of minutes to get really crispy. The best part is how they break off into little strips, then squares, perfect for filling with sauce. I shouldn’t have even made noodles.
I am surrounded at work by people who don’t seem to need sleep. They’re all taking classes and staying up until or waking up at ungodly hours, or are having sleep troubles and wake up all night. I am not one of those people. I need sleep. I love sleep. Seriously, I’m only getting about 7 1/2 hours right now, and it’s wearing me down. For the people at work, that’s ton of sleep. I carry a lot of guilt.

So I’ll admit, I’ve become a little jar-obsessed. The apple pies in little jars were fun, but let’s face it – I’m not gifted at making pies. Plus it’s getting hot outside and pretty soon it’ll even be too hot to bake bread.
Frozen. Frozen is where it’s at.
I found a recipe for Mudslide Pie, and with a little adaption and some bad math, these were sent to the freezer last month:
Cute, but too rich. They have a sour cream/melted chocolate layer on top of the crust, and next time I think I’d skip that part and just put the chocolate whipped cream in and call it good.
These were the latest creation: strawberry ‘cheesecakes’. No recipe, I just mashed half a block of cream cheese with some sugar and lemon juice until it tasted right and added some sweetened whipped cream. The topping is diced strawberries, sugar, and some of Lloyd’s mom strawberry jam.
The best part? No baking! Just eat straight from the freezer! The next best part? These jars are even smaller than the pie jars! Four ounces instead of eight. When I want something dessert-y I just want a little bit, so this works out pretty well. The worst part? My twenty year high school reunion is coming up and my eating habits are slowly declining. Maybe I should take up jogging.
Heaven help me if I find a two-ounce jar.

I’m not a jewelry person, but I really appreciate good design. Brad’s got some awesome rings, and he bought bottle-opener ring for Lloyd last year. Rings can be awesome.
Beth had a jewelry party awhile back, and it was other-worldly. The hostess was like something straight off of t.v. She was bubbly, beautiful, suspiciously knowledgeable about fashion trends and she made me want to buy stuff! Beth’s dining room table was heaped with display cases of all types of necklaces, bracelets, earrings, watches. It was crazy!
I bought two things. A necklace and a ring. The ring is spectacular. It’s made of seven narrow bands all interwoven together. Looking around on the internet I found it’s called a ‘rolling ring‘. I prefer to call it a ‘rage ring’, since it will give my hands something to do when I’m wrathful other than scratch at my cuticles. I may have to buy another one soon, since this one is already pretty scratched up. I don’t think it’s meant to roll on and off your finger a thousand times a day.
