Oh Walmart, why must you torment me so?

April 5, 2011 by Lauren 8 Comments

So, we were shopping in the Wal*marts and we sort of keep an eye out for things that look strange. You might recall that it’s especially annoying to Lloyd when multi-packs of things cost more than they cost singly.

The last time we were shopping he took this picture:

I believe the quote was, “Yeah, that’s how much a 2-liter bottle of Pepsi used to cost… in prison.”

Late Night Lemon Tinkering

May 13, 2009 by Lauren 10 Comments

So with the high price of Pepsi nowadays, I’ve been drinking more iced coffee and lemonade. I’m trying some experiments with real lemons since we’re almost at the end of the gigantic green bottle in the fridge.

That was a surprising amount of juice.

I’m putting the zest in a cup of sugar and letting it sit for a while. I’m thinking I could make some super-weak lemonade with it. I’ll let you know how it goes. The juice is just there… well, in case the lemonade needs help, I guess. I can’t just throw out a lemon.

Brad, can I grow a lemon tree inside?

(Can you tell it’s late and I’m tired? This is not well-written, and the pictures were taken in near-dark. Lloyd’ driving home from a soccer game in Omaha and I’m trying to stay up.)

Basic Math FTW*

The Wal*Marts® does this to me every once in a while. Now and then they hide their everyday low prices just to see if I’m paying attention. A few years ago it was the “Bonus 2 Pack” of SpeedStick® that cost 3 cents more than buying 2 of the single sticks.

Last Sanday it was the Pepsi® that cost $6.98 for a case, but only $1.00 for a “4-pack”. As you can see, we were not the only people to notice the price difference.

Lauren took ours back to the real soda aisle.

What a quandry.

Thank you, Samith!!!

So, so beautiful.

Samith sent these most incredibly awesome metal bottles of Pepsi for my birthday, and I just love them.  (Samith is in cahoots with the Pepsi people, y’know.)  It’s an unhealthy kind of love – I keep walking by them and picking them up to feel their aluminum wonderfulness.  Such pretty colors!  Such magnificent designs!  But…. there’s Pepsi inside!  I desperately want to drink from them, but it seems like I should wait for a special occasion or something.  Yes, yes, I’ll wait….
